John “Jack” Sheldon

John “Jack” Sheldon, born on October 19, 1943, to Frank and Marion Sheldon in Port Henry, NY, passed away on February 3, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family. Jack grew up in Port Henry, attending and graduating from high school in 1962.

After high school, Jack married the love of his life, Nancy Sheldon. He then began a long and fulfilling career at International Paper in Ticonderoga, NY, where he worked in repairs for 48 years, forming many lifelong friendships. Upon retiring, Jack pursued his passion for craftsmanship by opening his own contracting service, specializing in hardwood floors.

Jack was the most helpful of people. If anyone had a problem, they knew they could call Jack, and he could either walk them through how to fix something or offer to come and do it himself. He was very involved with the community he grew up in and contributed as much as he could.

Jack was a man of many hobbies. Not one to sit around, he was always trying to find something new for him to do. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he had a knack for creating small items like airplanes and sail ships made from cans. In his later years, he took up wooden pen making, crafting pens from various wood species he could get his hands on. This hobby turned out to be way bigger than he had imagined, as people from all over sent him different types of wood to make pens from, adding to his joy and creativity.

Family was incredibly important to Jack. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and was especially close to his grandson Schuyler. Jack and Schuyler shared many special moments together, and Jack always made sure to pass down his knowledge and skills. Living with Schuyler and his wife Amber  for the remainder of his life during illness. Allowed him to cherish  his great-grandchildren Matthew, Brooklynn, and Hazel this brought him immense joy and comfort.

He was predeceased by his father, mother, his brother Frank, and his sister Mary.

He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy Sheldon, their two children John Sheldon and his wife Doreen Sheldon, and Christine Sheldon, and grandchildren Christopher Sheldon, Schuyler Sheldon and his wife Amber Sheldon, Devin Peltier, and many cousins, nieces, nephews.

Jack's life was filled with love, creativity, and dedication to his family.

Services will be held in the spring location to be determined by family.
